    Abstract: This study was aimed at examining the violations of conversational maxim in Satu Indonesia talk show. The objectives of this study were to examine the types of conversational maxim violations occurred in the talk show, to examine the realization of conversational maxim violations, and to elaborate the reasons. This study was conducted by descriptive qualitative method. The source of data was Satu Indonesia talk show. There were 44 episodes of Satu Indonesia talk show in 2014 which were consisted of 14 politics, 15 economics, and 15 socials. Then, the utterances of host and guests in 3 episodes of politics, 3 episodes of economics and 3 episodes of social were the data of this study. The technique of data collection was documentary technique and the instrument of data collection was recorder. The technique of data analysis was interactive model by Miles and Huberman. The findings showed that all conversational maxim violations. Quality maxim was dominantly violated in topic of politics; quantity maxim violation was dominantly violated in the topic of economics and social. Realizations of conversational maxim violations were realized through understatement, overstatement, contradiction, sarcasm, metaphor, associative clues, presupposition, personification, synecdoche, and analogy.   Key Words: Conversational Maxim, Maxim Violations, Talk Show

    Abstract: This study is aimed to find out the factors in the pronunciation errors interference of Nias (First language; L1) with Indonesian as a (Second language; L2). The objectives of the study is to see how affect pronounciation errors interference of Niasnese L1 In Indonesian as a L2, to describe the types of pronunciation errors interference dominantly used by Niasnese speakers in Nias L1 In Indonesian as a L2 and understand why the pronounciation errors interference happen to the Niasnese in Indonesian as a L2. This research used a qualitative research to find out pronunciation errors interference of Niasnese native speakers. The data obtained from ten students and the parents of Nias speakers as the samples. Based on the observation result, it is found that the pronunciation errors interference at Nias in Indonesian as a L2: Deletion, addition and blends. There are three factors affect the Niasnese pronunciation error interference in Indonesian as a L2 in Sibolga, they are Intermarriage ( same culture marriage), The sound and the letters differences between Nias Language and Indonesian, Parents speak Nias language to the children or mother tongue, environment.     Abstract: This study deals with the language maintenance of Balinese in Langkat. This objective of the study was to examine the factors affecting the Balinese language maintenance in Langkat. This study was descriptively qulitatively conducted. The subjects taken were 20  males and females of Balinese. The use of instruments in this study were interview to gain the factors of Balinese language maintainance in Langkat. The theories of Holmes was used in this study. The data were analyzed by using Spradley analysis (1979). There are seven factors affecting Balinese language maintenance in the first and the second generation of Balinese in Langkat found as the findings of the study such as; ethno linguistic vitality, using language in family domain, using language in neighborhood domain, using language in religion domain, using language in workplace domain, practice of traditional ceremony and an additional factor that found by researcher as a new insight in this research is interaction with older people. Analysis of data clearly indicates that Balinese language maintenance were done in Langkat.Keywords: language maintenance, factors affecting language maintenance, Balinese in Langkat

    Abstract: The aims of this study are to describe the kinds of figure of speech and discover the existence of figure of speech that is delivered by Hula-hula, boru, and dongan tubu in Toba Batak saur matua ceremony. This research was conducted by using qualitative descriptive. The data were the utterances gathered from umpasa that are delivered by Hula-hula, boru, and dongan tubu of 3 Toba Batak saur matua ceremonies in Rantau prapat and Tarutung. The data analyzed by using theory of descriptive analysis. from identifying the data that are needed for this research, classifying the data based on the theory of figures of speech and analyzing the data based on the theories that were used. The findings are there were 7 out of 10 kinds of figure of speech were found in the umpasa of Toba Batak saur matua ceremony. The most dominant figure of speech in Toba Batak saur matua ceremony was simile. Toba Batak people tent to deliver umpasa through simile which compared between two dissimilar things by using the comparative term (like, as) and described to the first qualities of the second of invest the first with connotations inherent in the other. Keyword: Figurative Language, Toba Batak, Saur matua ceremony

    Abstract: This research was aimed at finding out the pragmatics acquisition of five-years old Indonesian children in casual conversation. The objectives of this descriptive qualitative research were to: (1) find the type of the pragmatics acquired by a five-years-old child, (2) to find out the way of how do the five years old Indonesian children acquired  the pragmatics in casual conversation, and (3) to find out the reason of why do the five years old Indonesian children acquired  the pragmatics in this way. The data were obtained from three Indonesian boy children who lived in Batakness environment where most of their friends spoke in Batakness language. This study was located at lintongnihuta, Humbang Hasundutan regency. In collecting the data. this study applied documentation with audio visual recorder as the instrument of collecting the data. The technique of data analysis used in this study was descriptive technique, and the data were described trough the process of transcribing the data and reducing the data by the process of selecting, focusing, simplifying and transforming the transcripts of the data, after that, displaying the data and at last drawing the conclusions. The finding indicates that the subject of this study had mastered pragmatics, were the types of pragmatics acquired are exchange structures, turn taking, repairs, and cohesion. While the most dominant pragmatics used was turn taking. The way of  five years-old Indonesian children acquire the pragmatics in casual conversation were by united the environment’s effect, culture, habits, mood, and their focus on their own mind, needs, and what they were thinking about. And the dominant affected by focusing to their mind only. Then based on the interview with their parents and other caregivers, it’s found that the reason of using pragmatics in highest frequency were because the children often focused to the things in their mind only.Keywords: Pragmatics, Acquisition, Indonesian Children, Casual Conversation

    Abstract: The research deals with idioms translation strategies. The aims of this study were: (1) to investigate the strategies of translating idioms in Pasung Jiwa novel, (2) to analyze the  process of translation strategies applied in Pasung Jiwa novel, and (3) to describe how the context of idiom translation strategies applied in translating Pasung Jiwa novel. The research was conducted by using qualitative design. The data of this study were words, phrases and clause. The data were collected through documentary technique and the instrument was the documentary sheet. The data were analyzed by using Miles and Huberman’s Interactive Model. The result of this study revealed that: (1) The kinds of idioms translation strategies in Pasung Jiwa Novel found by the researcher namely (a) idiom of similar meaning aand form, (b) idiom of similar meaning but dissimilar form, (c) translating idiom by paraphrase, (d) translating idiom by omission and (e) description strategy. (2) There are four process of idiom translation strategies based on sequences, namely (single process, double process, triple process  and quadruple process) in this study, the most dominant type was single process. triple and quadruple process was not found in this research. (3) From four types of context in translation proposed by Nida (2001), in this study the dominant context was social cultural context. Meanwhile, paralinguistic context and style context were not found. Therefore, in translating idiom, the translators need to know SL/TL culture and its relations to all aspects of cultural background and literature heritage of both languages in translation. The translator wanted the English translated version of Pasung Jiwa Novel easy to understand by the global reader. Data penelitian didapatkan dari hasil observasi, wawancara, angket/kuesioner dan dokumentasi. Berdasarkan temuan dan hasil penelitian yang telah dilakukan, maka dapat disimpulkan Inovasi Program hubungan masyarakat di SMP Negeri Maur Kecamatan Rupit sangat penting untuk dilakukan karena dalam perencanaan diketahui apa apa yang harus dilakukan kedepannya. Dalam perencanaan humas diadakan rapat dinas di awal tahun ajaran dan melibatkan semua elemen di SMP Negeri Maur Kecamatan Rupit yaitu kepala sekolah, wakil kepala sekolah, Guru, Staf dan Komite SMP Negeri Maur Kecamatan Rupit dan dilakukan secara terbuka dan tidak tertutup para pihak yang terlibat memberikan saran saran dan masukan tentang perkembangan sekolah.Koordinasi inovasi hubungan masyarakat di SMP Negeri Maur Kecamatan Rupit.

    Abstract: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan tingkat kemandirian  belajar mahasiswa program studi Pendidikan Akuntansi Fakultas Ilmu Sosial dan Ekonomi Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta. Subjek dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh mahasiswa Program Studi Pendidikan Akuntansi Fakultas Ilmu Sosial dan Ekonomi Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta semester genap tahun akademik 2009/2010  sebanyak 567 mahasiswa yang terdiri dari mahasiswa reguler, non reguler dan program kelanjutan studi.  Sampel penelitian  sebesar 226 diambil secara proportional random sampling. Instrumen untuk mengumpulkan data dalam penelitian ini adalah angket. Teknik analisis datanya dilakukan dengan  menggunakan metode deskriptif kuantitatif dengan persentase, untuk mengetahui tingkat kemandirian belajar  mahasiswa digunakan teknik analisis deskriptif dengan kriteria ideal yaitu mean ideal dan standar deviasi ideal. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan (1) Tingkat kemandirian  mahasiswa program studi Pendidikan Akuntansi FISE UNY  ditinjau pengelolaan waktu menunjukkan 7,52 % memiliki tingkat kemandirian belajarnya sangat tinggi, 71,68 % tinggi, 19,03% cukup dan 1,77% rendah. (2) Tingkat  kemandirian belajar mahasiswa program studi Pendidikan Akuntansi FISE UNY  ditinjau dari keinginan untuk belajar menunjukkan 51,33% mahasiswa tingkat kemandirian belajarnya sangat tinggi dan sisanya sebesar 48,67 % tinggi. (3) Tingkat  kemandirian belajar mahasiswa program studi Pendidikan Akuntansi FISE UNY  ditinjau dari pengendalian diri menunjukkan 61,06  %memiliki tingkat kemandirian belajar sangat tinggi, 31,42 % tinggi, 7,52% cukup dan tidak ada yang termasuk  rendah. (4) Tingkat  kemandirian belajar mahasiswa program studi Pendidikan Akuntansi FISE UNY  menunjukkan 53,53% memiliki tingkat  kemandirian belajar tinggi, 46,02% sangat tinggi dan 0,44% mahasiswa yang termasuk cukup, dan tidak ada yang tingkat kemandiriannya rendah.   Kata Kunci: Pengelolaan waktu, Keinginan belajar, Pengendalian diri

    Abstract: Karakteristik manusia masa depan yang diharapkan dalam rangka membangunsumber daya manusia adalah manusia-manusia yang memiliki kepekaan, kemandirian,tanggungjawab terhadap risiko dalam pengambilan keputusan, mengembangkansegenap aspek potensi melalui proses belajar yang terus menerus untuk menemukan dirisendiri yaitu proses to learn to be. Untuk mencapai tujuan ini dipilih teori belajarkonstruktivistik, sebab dibandingkan teori belajar lain, teori ini dapat mengantisipasipergeseran dari pendidikan yang lebih menekankan aspek kognitif menuju aspek potensimanusia secara utuh. Di samping itu teori belajar konstruktivistik pembelajarannyalebih menekankan aktivitas mahasiswa daripada pendidik. Menurut pandangankonstruktivistik belajar merupakan suatu proses pembentukan pengetahuan.Pembentukan ini harus dilakukan individu yang belajar, ia harus aktif melakukankegiatan, aktif berfikir, menyusun konsep dan memberi makna tentang hal-hal yangdipelajari. Dosen memang dapat dan harus mengambil prakarsa untuk menatalingkungan yang memberi peluang optimal bagi terjadinya belajar, namun yangakhirnya paling menentukan terwujudnya gejala belajar adalah niat belajar mahasiswaitu sendiri. Paradigma konstruktivistik memandang mahasiswa sebagai pribadi yangmemiliki kemampuan awal sebelum mempelajari suatu pengetahuan yang baru.Penilaian terhadap proses belajar mahasiswa merupakan bagian integral dalampembelajaran, dilakukan melalui observasi dosen terhadap hasil kerja mahasiswamelalui pameran karya mahasiswa, dan portofolio. Terdapat beberapa strategipembelajaran konstruktivistik yaitu belajar aktif, belajar mandiri, belajar kooperatif dankolaboratif, generative learning, dan model pembelajaran kognitif yang kesemuanya inidapat diterapkan pada mata kuliah Dasar-dasar BisnisKata kunci; pembelajaran konstruktivistik, strategi, Dasar-dasar Bisnis
