Abstract:
This article discusses mobile applications for user-generated knowledge artifacts supporting the knowledge exchange between doctors in postgraduate medical training and presents first results of a joint project developing applications for this purpose. We focus on the development of a multimodal solution that combines different mobile interaction technologies (tablets, smartphones, smartpens), media forms and modalities of use (mobile, stationary) to meet the specific characteristics of this application domain (high mobility, varying contexts of use, time shortage). Our first findings suggest that the notion of multimodality and a combination of user-centric and technology-centric approaches may represent important issues for this domain and comparable contexts of use.
