Corollaire au développement de l'État social en France, l'institutionnalisation de la protection des enfants en danger physique et moral sur le mode associatif est une application concrète du solidarisme par les républicains radicaux-socialistes. Partant du postulat que ce secteur d'activité traverse actuellement une crise de légitimité, l'auteur procède à une analyse socio-historique de deux associations : l'Œuvre Grancher et l'association Olga Spitzer. Depuis une vingtaine d'années, la montée d'un familialisme moderne fondé sur les droits et les responsabilités parentales se conjugue au désengagement de l'État sur les questions sociales. L'analyse comparative montre comment les caractéristiques de naissance de chaque institution prédeterminent leurs réorientations : elle permet d'observer non seulement les grands mouvements historiques du traitement des déviances familiales et éducatives mais aussi la diversité des configurations institutionnelles possibles

As a consequence of the development of the social State in France, the institutionalisation of the protection of children in physical or moral danger through associations is a concrete application of solidarism by radical-socialist republicans. Starting from the postulate that this sector of activity is currently going through a crisis of legitimacy, the author carries out a socio-historical analysis of two associations : the Œuvre Grancher and the Olga Spitzer Association. For the last twenty years, the rise of a modern familialism founded on rights and parental responsabilities has gone hand in hand with the disengagement of the State in social matters. The comparative view shows the evolution of each institution and give an insight not only into great historical movements in the treatment of family and educational deviances but also into the diversity of possible institutional configurations
