Wie kein anderer steht der "europäische Jurist" Peter Häberle für die kulturwissenschaftlich angeleitete Verfassungsvergleichung in Europa und weit darüber hinaus. Sie reicht von der "Miniatur" des pointierten Diskussionsbeitrags bei den Jahrestagungen der Staatsrechtslehrervereinigung über den pädagogisch inspirierten Entwurf von Studienordnungen bis hin zum weit ausgreifenden Grundlagenaufsatz. So formt der Band ein Kaleidoskop aus unterschiedlichen Themen bezogen auf unterschiedliche Rechtsordnungen und ausgestaltet in den unterschiedlichsten Literaturgattungen. Er umgreift den nationalen Verfassungsstaat, das Europa von Europarat, Europäischer Union und Europäischen Gemeinschaften und greift schließlich in die Weltebene aus. Im letzten Teil finden sich überdies persönlicher gehaltene Monita und Überlegungen eines Grundlagendenkers der Verfassungslehre, dem Wissenschaft immer auch Lebensform war. Die diskursive Offenheit seines Wissenschaftsverständnisses ist gleichsam der rote Faden, der den gesamten Band durchzieht und den Leser zum Rechtsgespräch einlädt.
