In der globalisierten Welt beschränken sich strafrechtlich relevante Sachverhalte mit grenzüberschreitenden Bezügen längst nicht mehr auf den Bereich der organisierten Kriminalität, sondern sind angesichts der zunehmenden Mobilität der Gesellschaft und der wachsenden Bedeutung des Internet zu einem verbreiteten Phänomen geworden. Der einzelne Bürger wird auf diese Weise mit dem Strafrecht mehrerer Staaten konfrontiert, wonach dasselbe Verhalten unter Umständen aufgrund unterschiedlicher kriminalpolitischer Wertungen zum Teil als strafbar, zum Teil als straflos angesehen wird, und sieht sich der Gefahr ausgesetzt, in mehreren Staaten strafrechtlich verfolgt zu werden. Mit dem vorliegenden Band wird auf der Grundlage einer eingehenden Analyse des Unionsrechts ein Modell zur Lösung strafrechtlicher Jurisdiktionskonflikte vorgelegt, das einen solchen Konflikt bereits im Vorfeld eines Strafverfahrens vermeidet, indem die Strafgewalt der Mitgliedstaaten durch eine Harmonisierung des Strafanwendungsrechts begrenzt wird, und für die verbleibenden Fälle einen Mechanismus zur Koordinierung nationaler Strafverfahren bereitstellt
