Auf der Halbinsel Wustrow, zwischen Rostock und Lübeck gelegen, errichteten die Nazis in den dreißiger Jahren die grösste Flakartillerieschule des deutschen Reiches. Hitler, Göring und Mussolini ließen sich hier die neueste Technik für den geplanten Luftkrieg vorführen. Nach dem Ende des Zweiten Weltkrieges dienten die einstigen Kasernen und Offizierswohnungen Tausenden Flüchtlingen als Bleibe, bis die Rote Armee einzog und über vier Jahrzehnte eine Militärbasis betrieb, zu der auch ein Marinestützpunkt und ein Spionageposten der Funkaufklärung gehörten. Das 1998 an eine Investorengruppe verkaufte Areal, auf dem komfortable Ferienanlagen entstehen sollten, ist seit 1993 ungenutzt. Die verlassene Militärstadt und das angrenzende Naturschutzgebiet können nach wie vor nicht besichtigt werden. Edelgard und Klaus Feiler haben die Historie des Geländes über Jahre in Archiven und Gesprächen mit Zeitzeugen erforscht. Sie stellen die bewegte Geschichte der verbotenen Halbinsel erstmalig vor und präsentieren dabei seltene Dokumente und einzigartige historische Fotos.
