    Content: Gli scarsi dati biografici disponibili su Scribonio Largo, assai vicino alla famiglia giulio-claudia, non rispecchiano l'importanza dell'opera medico-farmacologica di questo autore, la prima specialistica in latino, che larga incidenza ebbe in seguito: è citato spesso dalle fonti di Galeno; escertato da Marcello detto Empirico e ripreso in numerosi excerpta recentemente ritrovati e attendibili (con un passo autentico, fino ad oggi inedito). Lo stemma finora delineato, fondato sul Toletano 98. 12 di tradizione diretta, scoperto dallo scrivente, sulla princeps a stampa e su Marcello, si è arricchito di numerosi testimoni di tradizione indiretta, con lezioni, talora inaspettate, ma genuine. Tutto questo consente di conoscere meglio la lingua latino-greca delle Compositiones, con fenomeni linguistici importanti (ad es. Nominativi e Accus. assoluti, Erstarrungen, rideterminazioni, casi di emplastrum concordato al femm.): una lingua ricca di prestiti greci, spesso neoattestati, come pharmacia. Il nuovo testo consente una lettura più genuina, con documentazione importante per filologi e storici della medicina
