Inhaltsangabe: Von den Anfängen bis heute hat das Internet ein stetiges Wachstum erlebt und mit ihm hat die Fülle von Informationen ständig zugenommen. Weltweit werden inzwischen über 175 Millionen Internetauftritte gezählt, während es noch vor drei Jahren lediglich 67 Millionen Webseiten waren. Der Pionier Yahoo und viele andere Online-Unternehmer haben zwar gezeigt, dass sich mit dem Betreiben einer Internetseite Geld verdienen lässt, jedoch schreibt das Internet nicht nur Erfolgsgeschichten. In dieser dynamischen Umgebung ist es angesichts der Konkurrenz zunehmend schwieriger, mit einem bestimmten Angebot eine Nische zu füllen und Geld zu verdienen. Unerlässlich für den Erfolg einer Webseite ist ein funktionierendes Ertragsmodell. Apple ist eines der erfolgreichsten Unternehmen der Welt. 2007 konnte es mit durchschnittlich 21.600 Beschäftigten Umsatzerlöse von 24,01 Mrd. Dollar verzeichnen und einen Nettogewinn von 3,5 Mrd. Dollar erzielen. Die Marktkapitalisierung beträgt gegenwärtig 145,26 Mrd. Dollar. Zum Vergleich: Sony machte 2007 mit 163.000 durchschnittlich Beschäftigten einen Umsatz von 70,3 Mrd. Dollar und erzielte einen Nettogewinn von 1,07 Mrd. Dollar. Die Marktkapitalisierung beträgt gegenwärtig 5,92 Mrd. Dollar. Das Besondere an Apple ist, dass dieser Erfolg mit einer im Vergleich zu Sony extrem kleinen Produktpalette erreicht wurde. Im Laufe der Jahre hat es Apple verstanden, eine treue Nutzergemeinde aufzubauen. Diese hat zahlreiche Foren geschaffen, auf denen Informationen über Apple-Produkte ausgetauscht werden. Inzwischen gibt es mehr als 1000 solcher Webseiten. Das Interessante daran ist, dass sich allein mit Informationen über Apple-Produkte statt mit direktem Verkauf solcher Produkte Erträge erzielen lassen. Allerdings gibt es bisher keine systematische Analyse, wie und auf welchen Wegen diese Internetseiten verdienen. Hier setzt diese Arbeit an. Gang der Untersuchung: Das Ziel der Arbeit ist es, durch systematische Analyse zu erarbeiten, welche Ertragsmodelle es für Informationswebseiten von Apple-Produkten gibt, wie sie funktionieren und welche Gemeinsamkeiten sie aufweisen. Diese Systematik soll helfen, künftige Ertragsmodelle für Apple-bezogene Informationswebseiten zu formulieren. Zuerst werden Literaturquellen mittels Internet- und Katalogrecherche ermittelt und ausgewertet. Dann erfolgt das Zusammentragen von Informationen über ausgewählte Informationswebseiten für Apple-Produkte. Zentrale Kriterien dafür sind Reichweite und Substanz der Inhalte. Anschließend werden deren Ertragsmodelle systematisch in ihre Bestandteile zerlegt und ausgewertet. Daraus ergeben sich Erkenntnisse über Gemeinsamkeiten, Unterschiede und Muster. Die vorliegende Arbeit beginnt in Kapitel 2 mit den theoretischen Grundlagen. Hier werden zunächst die Elemente bzw. Bestandteile von Geschäfts- und Ertragsmodellen vorgestellt. Anschließend wird die Funktionsweise von Geschäfts- und Ertragsmodellen beschrieben. Den Abschluss dieses Kapitels bildet dann ein Vorgehensmodell für die Analyse von Geschäfts- und Ertragsmodellen. In Kapitel 3 wird einleitend ein Profil der Firma Apple skizziert und die Besonderheiten von Apple-Produkten erklärt. Dann werden ausgewählte Informationswebseiten für Apple-Produkte anhand eines Schemas beschrieben. Das Schema für die Analyse der Ertragsmodelle der ausgewählten Webseiten wird am Anfang von Kapitel 4 abgeleitet. Im Anschluss daran folgt die detaillierte Darstellung der Analyse. Aus den Ergebnissen der Analyse werden Erkenntnisse für die Modellierung von Ertragsmodellen für Apple-bezogene Webseiten formuliert. Den Abschluss dieser Arbeit stellt Kapitel 5 mit der Zusammenfassung und dem Fazit dar.
