Die englische Autorin und Journalistin Thompson legt eine umfangreiche Biografie vor über das in der Tat "faszinierende Leben" Agatha Christies (1890-1976) - von einer behüteten Kindheit in der oberen Mittelschicht über die Ehe mit ihrer großen Liebe Archibald Christie, der sie wegen einer anderen verließ, bis zu ihrer 2. ungewöhnlichen Ehe mit einem 14 Jahre jüngeren Archäologen und zu ihren unglaublichen Erfolgen als Kriminalschriftstellerin. Leider fasziniert aber Thompsons eher langatmiges Buch kaum. Vor allem stören die zahlreichen Romanzitate, mit denen die Biografin ihre Mutmaßungen über Christies tatsächliche Gedanken und Gefühle zu belegen versucht. Mit 2 kleinen Blöcken Schwarz-Weiß-Fotos, Register. Keine Zeittafel. Nach Christies Autobiografien "Meine gute alte Zeit" (BA 12/91) und "Erinnerung an glückliche Tage" (BA 10/97), beide noch als Fischer-Taschenbuch lieferbar, sowie der ebenfalls noch lieferbaren Rowohlt-Monographie von M.
