Neben vielen anderen Wüstenbewohnern geht es um die Dorkas-Gazelle, das Kamel, die Hornviper, den Wüstenfuchs und die Agame, eine Echsenart. Diesen 5 Tieren wird mehr Beachtung geschenkt als den anderen: von 6 Uhr bis 22 Uhr wird alle 4 Stunden gezeigt, was sie zur entsprechenden Tageszeit machen. Ansonsten zeigt der Band die Tierwelt der Wüste zu jeder Tagesstunde (Pause wird nur zwischen 0 und 4 Uhr gemacht). Viele kleine Textblöcke, Kästen mit Extra-Informationen und etliche qualitativ gute Fotos sorgen für eine aufgelockerte Seitengestaltung. Wie auch schon in den anderen Reihenbänden (z.B. "Regenwald" in dieser Nr.) zeigen Symbole die Größenverhältnisse an. Ein Titel, an dem es nichts auszusetzen gibt. Noch vor "Wüsten" aus dem Fleurus-Verlag (ID 18/02) und "Die Wüste" von P.
