As a consequence of the digital revolution, the tasks and challenges facing museums also have to be redefined. In order to cope with these issues constructively, explanations of the basic theoretical concepts in this respect are equally as necessary as the development of new strategies and models of communication by museums seen against the backdrop of critical reflections on their day-to-day workings. As media use has become commonplace in daily life, people’s expectations of museums have also changed.
