Bei ihrem Lauftraining in einer einsamen Bergregion verschwindet die begüterte Kinderärztin Emory Charbonneau spurlos. Ehemann Jeff ist außer sich vor Sorge und schaltet die Polizei ein. Die Ermittler sind skeptisch, denn Jeff verhält sich verdächtig. Nach 4 Tagen kommt die Überraschung, Emory taucht wieder auf. Natürlich bleiben eine Menge Fragen offen. Die junge Frau selbst hält sich bedeckt. Ein namenloser Unbekannter habe sie gerettet, der sie in seiner abgelegenen Hütte gut versorgte. Dass er um keinen Preis seinen Namen nennen wollte, dass er ein ganzes Waffenarsenal versteckte, das FBI nach ihm sucht und er ganz nebenbei ein verwundetes Herz erobert, macht ihn ebenso interessant wie gefährlich. Man kann praktisch blind zu Sandra Browns Thriller (zuletzt ID-A 3/16) greifen, jeder einzelne ist ein Volltreffer. Wie die Allerbesten dieses Genres baut sie dramatisch Spannung auf, bis es fast nicht mehr auszuhalten ist. Durch überraschende Volten, prickelnd erotische Szenen, einen furiosen Einstieg und den fulminanten Schluss fesselt auch dieses Buch wieder gnadenlos bis zum allerletzten Satz. Martina Mattes
