Content: This volume contains a selection of papers presented at the 1991 Conrad Conference, held in Gainesville, Florida, USA, in December, 1991. Together, these give an overview of some recent advances in the area of ordered algebraic structures. The first part of the book is devoted to ordered permutation groups and universal, as well as model-theoretic, aspects. The second part deals with material variously connected to general topology and functional analysis. Collectively, the contents of the book demonstrate the wide applicability of order-theoretic methods, and how ordered algebraic structures have connections with many research disciplines. For researchers and graduate students whose work involves ordered algebraic structures.

Content: This book contains the courses given at the Third School on Statistical Physics and Cooperative Systems held at Santiago, Chile, from 14th to 18th December 1992. The main idea of this periodic school was to bring together scientists work with recent trends in Statistical Physics. More precisely ing on subjects related related with non linear phenomena, dynamical systems, ergodic theory, cellular au tomata, symbolic dynamics, large deviation theory and neural networks. Scientists working in these subjects come from several areas: mathematics, biology, physics, computer science, electrical engineering and artificial intelligence. Recently, a very important cross-fertilization has taken place with regard to the aforesaid scientific and technological disciplines, so as to give a new approach to the research whose common core remains in statistical physics. Each contribution is devoted to one or more of the previous subjects. In most cases they are structured as surveys, presenting at the same time an original point of view about the topic and showing mostly new results. The expository text of Fran.
Note: Cellular Automata and Transducers. A Topological View -- Automata Network Models of Interacting Populations -- Entropy, Pressure and Large Deviation -- Formal Neural Networks: from Supervised to Unsupervised Learning -- Storage of Correlated Patterns in Neural Networks.

Content: Pre-Mesozoic Geology of Iberia is a major reference for current understanding of the overall tectonostratigraphic evolution of the Iberian Massif. It represents a comprehensive overview which systematically describes characteristics of the seven major lithotectonic elements of the Iberian Massif in terms of: - stratigraphy, - paleontology, - sedimentology, - structural geology, - igneous activity, - metamorphic evolution, - metallogenesis, and - tectonic significance. These data are compiled in several concluding summary chapters which discuss the overall geodynamic evolution of the Iberian Massif and outline its tectonic setting within the overall circum-Atlantic region. Readers will benefit by this comprehensive review of an important tectonostratigraphic element in the circum-Atlantic realm

Content: High-Performance CMOS Continuous-Time Filters is devoted to the design of CMOS continuous-time filters. CMOS is employed because the most complex integrated circuits have been realized with this technology for two decades. The most important advantages and drawbacks of continuous-time filters are clearly shown. The transfer function is one of the most important filter parameters but several others (like intermodulation distortion, power-supply rejection ratio, noise level and dynamic range) are fundamental in the design of high-performance systems. Special attention is paid to the practical aspects of the design, which shows the difference between an academic design and an industrial design. A clear understanding of the behavior of the circuits and techniques is preferred over complex equations or interpretation of simulated results. Step-by-step design procedures are very often used to clarify the use of the techniques and topologies. The organization of this text is hierarchical, starting with the design consideration of the basic building blocks and ending with the design of several high-performance continuous-time filters. Most of the circuits have been fabricated, theoretically analyzed and simulated, and silicon measurement results are compared with each other. High-Performance CMOS Continuous-Time Filters can be used as a text book for senior or graduate courses on this topic and can also be useful for industrial engineers as a reference book
