Inhalt: Next divorce is undoubtedly a fundamental reference text for the history of women and civil rights. Anna Franchi fights together with the socialists for both freedom of choice and the right to civil and political vote, denied, once again, to women. The texts presented also claim the struggles for the right to work and a fair salary and present unpublished profiles of personalities who fought, with little hope and a lot of courage. Anna Franchi was also the first woman who believed in the Macchiaioli movement: she wrote its history, met its interpreters, sought for them a market that recognized its value. Important friendship with Giovanni Fattori and correspondence with many painters: the letters become a mirror not only of their artistic intentions but also of the moods, relationships, travels, successes and many moments of sadness that were confided to their friend Anna.

Inhalt: In 1865 the administrative unification laws of the Kingdom of Italy were issued. On the occasion of the 150th anniversary, the Department of Legal Sciences of the University of Florence has organized a study project on the transformations that in the last fifty years have affected the apparatuses and activities of the administration of the Republic, seen in its articulated local government and in its membership of the European Union. Over the course of almost two years, the research involved more than one hundred and fifty scholars from Italian universities. The results were presented on 15 and 16 October 2015 in Florence, the city which had been the capital of Italy one hundred and fifty years earlier and which in 1965 had hosted the conference celebrating the centenary of the same administrative unification laws.

Inhalt: The concept of the literary canon is one of the most debated and controversial in the western intellectual tradition. This book offers ten contributions by Italian scholars of Anglo-American culture addressing the way in which the concept of the literary canon holds out against areas traditionally considered as external or extraneous to it. The essays range over different topics: the etymological analysis of the term "canon"; the relations between canon and performativity; paraliterature - a universe populated by non-hierarchic genres; the relations between post-colonial literature and the canon; postmodern biofiction; studies on translation and finally gay and lesbian literature. The book ends with a meditation on the innovations wrought on the Anglo-American canon by the virtual world of Internet and with a reading proposal originating from a different area of literary studies. Taken as a whole, the intention of the book is to pave the way to democratisation and pluralism in literary studies, going beyond the limitations set by the traditional scale of values of the "western canon". It proposes a frequentation of the geographical and cultural borderlines and hence of the areas of resistance that such borderlines pose to the dominant conceptual hierarchies within and around us, enabling us to glimpse an original future for literature and for western culture in a broader sense.

    Serie: Reti medievali. E-book, Monografie ; 28
Inhalt: A long eighteenth century - on the footsteps of the erudite tradition and of the Muratori's publishing method - and a very short nineteenth century, enclosed between the first post-unification decade and the threshold of the Great War, when the advent of a new and professionalised generation of scholars (Bonelli, Vittani, Torelli, Manaresi) would also impose a radical change in Lombardy in the field of palaeographic-diplomatic research. These are the coordinates (of a conceptual rather than a chronological nature) of the book, which for the first time analyses a significant period of medieval history under a historiographic perspective and retraces the careers, projects, the initiatives of the individuals and institutions that have animated that epoch. The editors and the editions of medieval documents coming from Lombardy are at the heart of the publication, although wider perspectives and many protagonists whose fame goes beyond the borders of regional culture revolve around them. The process of defining a modern diplomatic philology in the editions of Lombard sources is followed, marking its salient stages and turning points. However, in the background stand out the broader (as well as stronger and ideologically connoted) themes of Medieval studies before and after the Unification of Italy. These are the issue of the Longobards, the myth of the Commune civilisation in the Risorgimento culture, the identity of the Visconti-Sforza state. Analysing the editors and the editions of medieval documents in Lombardy between the nineteenth and twentieth century means shedding a significant light on the very dynamics of the organisation of regional historical research. Such analysis moves within a lively debate offering scientific and cultural implications between the hegemonic Milanese centre and the sometimes riotous municipalisms of the many suburbs.

Inhalt: In the last years, institutional repositories of preprints and scholarly publications have become a peak experience in the digital library environment, enabling the involvement of authors and scientific communities in a free and shared access to the results of research, and to its circulation trough the web. This volume collects a series of essays, both published and unpublished, that Antonella De Robbio wrote with respect to the issue of scientific information, and to the reply given by the Open Access Movement (OAI). The collection aims to a double purpose: first, to fill the gap in the lacking Italian bibliography concerning Open Archives; second, to take stock of the difficult situation of the Open Access Movement, and of the hope of its advocates that this movement could promote a democratic and immediate circulation of scientific knowledge.
