Content: Bekannter Primatenforscher und Psychobiologe erörtert vergleichend Verhalten bei Menschen und den 2 nächstverwandten Primaten (Bonobo, Schimpanse) in Bezug auf biologisches und soziales Geschlecht (Gender). Fundiert und gut verständlich zeigt er bei allen drei Arten deutlichen Einfluss der Biologie auf Verhalten schon vor Einwirkung von Eltern oder Kultur (z.B. bei Spielzeugauswahl oder Interesse an Babys). Darauf beruhende Rollenverteilung im Tierreich könne Ungleichbehandlung oder gar Abwertung von Menschen aber nicht rechtfertigen. Gender gebe es aber auch bei Affen (etwa durch Nachahmung). Sorgfältig übersetzt, fast fehlerfrei, wird auf oft überraschende Weise mit Vorurteilen (ob gleichmacherisch oder diskriminierend) aufgeräumt, etwa über Aggression, Dominanz, Empathie, Instinkte, Kinderaufzucht, Sexualität. Erschliessung durch sprechendes Inhaltsverzeichnis, Personenregister, je ca. 500 Anmerkungen und Quellenangaben ist gut, ein Sachregister fehlt dagegen leider. Angemessener Preis für einfach ausgestattetes Hardcover, mit einigen Schwarz-Weiss-Zeichnungen und Fotos ausreichend illustriert
