Abstract: The method of linear cyclic voltammetry with hanging mercury drop eletctrode allows to follow the behaviour of aluminum nanoparticles in aqueous dispersions. The particles gradually react with the dispersion medium to form aluminum hydroxide over various intermediate aggregates depending on composition of the dispersing solution. Voltammetry shows adsorption at the electrode of some of the reaction intermediates and formation of aluminum amalgam when the bared metallic core contacts the electrode.
