Abstract:
Los inventarios post mortem de dos libreros, uno francés y el otro italiano, nos permiten tener una idea bastante precisa de los problemas que se planteaban a los profesionales instalados en Valencia a principios del siglo XVI. Para responder a la demanda de una clientela que abarcaba ya a todos los sectores de la sociedad, era preciso disponer de un abanico muy variado de libros, muchos de ellos bastante caros, o en número elevado de ejemplares para los títulos de mayor aceptación. Tal estado de cosas implicaba disponer de un capital importante y de fuentes muy diversas de abastecimiento; es probable que esta situación llevó a nuestros libreros a aunar sus fuerzas, pero la muerte del primero obligó sin duda al segundo a sustituirle en su tienda de Valencia.
