    Abstract: Abstract: Authors discuss the musculoskeletal aspects of obesity by applying a novel approach. Biochemical changes associated with obesity and especially metabolic syndrome, may have a great impact on the function of bones, joints and muscles. Therefore we need a new view and new strategies in rheumatic diseases. Obesity-associated metabolic changes should be considered during the progress of as well as the selection of treatment in inflammatory rheumatic diseases.     Abstract: Biological response modifiers, especially tumour necrosis factor inhibitors have been proved to be very effective in the treatment of various immune mediated rheumatological, gastroenterological and dermatological diseases in the last 15 years. With their increasing use, the incidence of their adverse effects are more precisely defined. The aim of this cohort study was to analyse the adverse effects occurred within the study period in patients receiving biological therapy for rheumatological and dermatological autoimmune diseases. Methods: 324 patients within a 3 years study period were treated with biological response modifiers (adalimumab: 92, etanercept: 107, infliximab: 125). The primary diagnoses were rheumotoid arthritis (n = 174), ankylosing spondylitis (n = 60), psoriatic arthritis (n = 11), and psoriasis vulgaris (79). Results: Hypersensitive reactions were observed in 11 of the patients (3.4%), 7 of which were serious and needed treatment termination. Infections constituted the majority of side effects, which were localised to skin in 10 (3.1%) and to respiratory tract in 9 (2.8%). However, most of these were mild or moderate reactions. Malignant skin tumour developed in 1 case (0.3%) only. Drug induced inflammatory disorders occurred in some cases: onset of new psoriasis was observed in 1 and flares of the existing disease were detected in additional three. Lichenoid exanthema developed in one. (n = 5, 1.5%) Conclusion: The use of TNF-α blockers may provoke a broad spectrum of dermatological side effects. Our results suggest that the majority of these are infectious and inflammatory disorders, the latter may relatively often appear as drug induced psoriasis.     Abstract: Up until now there has been no available treatment for diseases causing the permanent impairment of retinal photoreceptors. Currently the development of the retinal prostheses is the earliest to promise a result that can be implemented in the clinical treatment of these patients. Implants with different operating principles and in various stages of progress are presented in details, highlighting the characteristics, as well as the Hungarian aspects of the development. This survey intends to provide an overview on retinal prostheses, implantable in case of degenerative diseases of the retina, by reviewing and assessing the papers published in relevant journals and based on personal experience. Developments in microelectronics in recent years made it possible and proved to be feasible to replace the degenerated elements in the retina with electrical stimulation. Multiple comparable approaches are running simultaneously. Two types of these implants are directly stimulating the remaining living cells in the retina. Hitherto the finest resolution has been achieved with the subretinal implants. Although the epiretinal implant offer lower resolution, but requires shorter surgery for implantation. Retinal implants in certain retinal diseases are proved to be capable of generating vision-like experiences. A number of types of retinal implants can be expected to appear in clinical practice a few years after the successful conclusion of clinical trials. Orv. Hetil., 2011, 152, 537–545.

    Abstract: Egyre gyorsuló és dinamikusan fejlődő világunkban a közlekedésnek kiemelkedő szerepe van. A közlekedés egyik folyamatosan fejlődő ágazata a közúti közlekedés. Az autóipar folyamatos fejlesztéseinek köszönhetően gyorsan fejlődő iparág. Azonban az egyre szigorodó környezetvédelmi szabályozások miatt a fő fejlesztések a járművek fogyasztásának és károsanyag-kibocsátásának csökkentésére irányulnak. A jármű össztömegének csökkentésével jelentősen csökkenthető a károsanyag-kibocsátás. Az össztömeg csökkentése a kötéstechnológiák fejlesztésével és új, korszerű anyagok felhasználásával viszonylag könnyen elérhető. Azonban az eszközölt változtatások nem csökkenthetik a jármű biztonsági besorolását. Ezek a követelmények előtérbe helyezik a belső merevítéssel ellátott elemek használatát, amelyek a megfelelő merevítő anyaggal ugyan azt a szilárdsági tényezőt tudják biztosítani, csak kisebb tömeggel. Egy ilyen korszerű, belső merevítésként használható anyag az alumíniumhab, amely ultrakönnyű, jó szilárdsági tulajdonságokkal és jó energiaelnyelő képességekkel rendelkezik. Az energiaelnyelő képessége leginkább az ütközések során keletkező energia elnyelésére, a fellépő erőhatások csökkentésére használható. Az ütközés következtében a karosszériaelemre ható erő és a váz által kifejtett ellenerő gyakorlatilag összenyomja az ott található biztonsági elemet. A cikkben az alumíniumhabbal merevített vékonyfalú csövek nyomással szembeni viselkedését vizsgáltuk, amelyekből következtettünk az ütközéscsillapító elemként történő felhasználhatóságára.
