    Umfang: 2 ungezählte Blätter, 8 ungezählte Faltblätter , 21 x 13 cm
Inhalt: Information des Künstlers: "The call for proposals for AMBruno’s new book project for 2020 consisted of a photograph and the title - One and many pages. Artists were invited to respond to the image, the photograph’s represented subject, and the accompanying phrase. On the first printed page of my book, in a short text, I describe (or read) the photograph and the book it depicts - its leaning mass, the texture of the fore-edge and the passages formed by the slightly open covers. On each of the subsequent seven inward folding recto pages is the same piece of writing translated into Dutch, Greek, Hebrew, Latin, and three German versions, the following page carries the three dots of an ellipsis. The intimation is that the process of translation may be continued into a multitude of other languages, and that any translation is (as is any act of reading and of writing) one of infinite possibilities of interpretation and variation - from one to many. In this case one instance of such multiplicity is Dr Jonathan Katz’s approach to the translation into Latin. Considering the work of Catullus particularly apposite to the descriptive character of the originating text, he has produced a series of hendecasyllables inspired by the poet. The translators are: Elisabeth Tonnard is a Dutch artist and poet working in artists’ books, photography and literature. Vasilis Liolios is a composer and performer with the contemporary and electro-acoustic music trio, Eventless Plot. Maria-Anna Rodopoulou is studying for a PhD in the Laboratory of Apiculture-Sericulture, at the Faculty of Agriculture of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. Neta Peretz is a PhD candidate in the Art History department at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, and is assistant curator in the Department of Modern Art at the Israel Museum. Dr Jonathan Katz is Fellow of St Anne's College teaching Latin, Greek and Sanskrit language and literature, and is Public Orator at the University of Oxford. Katharina Ludwig is an artist and writer based in Berlin, working with text, installation and objects. Moritz Kung is an independent exhibition curator and book editor working in the main at the intersection of art and architecture. Dr Michael Lailach is a curator and research assistant at the Kunstbibliothek, Staatliche Museen zu Berlin. The genesis of the book is in two images. In a formal association of the bulk of the standing book with Pieter Bruegel’s The Tower of Babel (the Little version). And from this to Albrecht Dürer’s early woodcut illustration of St Jerome in his study, the title page for an edition of the saint's letters. In this the translator is seen surrounded by three open books, visible in each is written text in Greek, Latin and Hebrew respectively."
