Paul Kennedys Buch eröffnet neue Einsichten in einige der wichtigsten politischen Fragen unserer Zeit. Die UNO steht beinahe unentwegt in der Kritik, aber sie ist dennoch nur schwer zu ersetzen. Ihre bemerkenswerteste Leistung besteht vermutlich darin, daß sie trotz aller Krisen bis heute überlebt und zugleich ihr Aufgabenspektrum immer mehr erweitert hat.
