Kurzfassung:
ABSTRACT This article aims to analyze the care offered to children with Congenital Zika Syndrome, from the perspective of professionals at a public and university hospital in the state of Rio de Janeiro. An exploratory, qualitative case study was carried out through participant observation and semi-structured interviews with eleven health professionals. Data were conducted by content analysis, thematic modality. From the perspective of care as one of the dimensions of comprehensiveness in health, we realize that professionals, mostly women and physicians, are sensitive to family issues, also considered as a care unit, and recognize the difference in the care they provide against the biomedical model still hegemonic in the health area. However, they point out its limits at a fragmented and seriously deficient network. Such limits seem to jeopardize care that embraces the affective and social dimensions of these families, especially women, legitimized as the center of caring for their children. The importance of thinking about an interdisciplinary, critical and reflective health education that allows for a broader look at the vulnerabilities and needs of these families, including an intersectional gender perspective that understands the complex process of social determination in health, is noted.
