    Note: Irina Korschunow wurde 1925 in Stendal geboren. Von 1949 bis 1954 studierte sie in Göttingen und München Germanistik, Anglistik und Theaterwissenschaften. Seit den fünfziger Jahren war sie als Journalistin, Kolumnistin und Autorin von Drehbüchern, Kinderbüchern erfolgreich. Mehrere Jahre war sie im Präsidium des PEN. Nach 28 zum Teil preisgekrönten Kinder- und Jugendbüchern gab sie 1983 ihr Debüt als Romanautorin für Erwachsene. Irina Korschunow starb 2013 in München.

Korschunow veröffentlichte zahlreiche Kinder-, Jugend- und Erwachsenenromane, für die sie mehrere Preise erhielt. Zu ihren bekanntesten Werken gehört der Jugendroman "Er hieß Jan" (1979).
