Während Robert Walser im Jahr 1966, als das TEXT + KRITIK Heft 12 erstmals erschien, noch als verschollener Außenseiter galt und auch im Jahr 1975, bei Erscheinen des neu bearbeiteten Hefts 12/12a, noch fast ausschließlich in Literaten- und Germanistenkreisen bekannt war, ist er mittlerweile, fast 30 Jahre später, als moderner Klassiker anerkannt und kanonisiert. Dazwischen liegt die Publikation zahlreicher Ausgaben seiner Werke sowie der erst vor kurzem abgeschlossenen Transkription der "Mikrogramme" und sonstiger neu aufgefundener Arbeiten, durch die sich der Umfang seines Gesamtwerk um ein gutes Drittel erweiterte. Mit diesem noch kenntnisreicheren Blick auf Werk und Rezeption will das neu gefasste TEXT + KRITIK Heft auf dem gegenwärtigen Stand der Forschung einer Reihe von Themen und Fragestellungen nachgehen. Die Eigentümlichkeit der "Mikrogramme", die Bedeutung ihres handschriftlichen Vollzugs als eigentliche poetische Performanz bei Walser, Fragen nach spezifischen Motiven und der provokativen Modernität Robert Walsers stehen dabei im Mittelpunkt.
