Content: This commentary initially outlines a synchronous view of the final canonical text of Malachi, particularly in relation to the arguments set out in the disputations. The history of the text=s origins is then reconstructed. Removing the many additions reveals an originally independent collection of disputation texts. The additions introduce clarifying details that are felt to be necessary, add motifs from other writings in the Book of the Twelve Minor Prophets, or adapt the text to changed historical conditions. Finally, attention turns beyond the text of Malachi: as the last text in the Book of the Twelve Minor Prophets, Malachi makes reference to the preceding prophetic writings. The New Testament in turn takes up Malachi=s statements and develops them further. Finally, Schart examines the theological relevance of the book and also discusses questions of objective criticism and history of interpretation, as well as current issues.

Content: Significant parts of the text of Micah were probably written as part of a book of several prophets & or twelve prophets & and can therefore only be adequately understood and interpreted in that context. A piece of Old Testament theological history thus becomes visible here that was not primarily concerned with the message of a single, individual prophetic figure, but above all with general testimony to YHWH=s speech and action in the history of his people. Zapff demonstrates this by reflecting diachronically on the results of a synchronic interpretation in order to trace the process of the creation of the text of Micah and its theological message.

Content: This commentary for the first time combines all relevant aspects for the interpretation of this late text in the Old Testament/Apocrypha: textual criticism, philological and literary analysis; the dual historical context with the link to Hellenistic environment, on the one hand, and to the biblical tradition on the other; and finally, the - highly innovative - theology of the Book of Wisdom. Aspects of reception history and hermeneutic issues complete the commentary.

Content: The Book of Esther is one of the five Megillot. It tells the story of a Jewish girl in Persia, who becomes queen and saves her people from a genocide. The story of Esther forms the core of the Jewish festival of Purim. The commentary presents a literary analysis of the text, taking into account the inclusion and arrangement of different pericopes, and an analysis of the narration. Likewise, it will discuss the style, the syntax, and the vocabulary. The examination of the intellectual context of the book, biblical and extrabiblical textual traditions on which the book is based and with which it is in intertextual dialogue, leads to a discussion of the redactional process and the historical and social contexts in which the authors and redactors worked.
