Content: This volume explores how right-wing populists use religion as a cultural identity marker for minorities, while remaining distanced from Christian values, beliefs, and institutions. Based on interviews with key figures in the USA and Europe, this book asks how religiously diverse societies can confront the rise of a secular, populist, and identitarian right.

Content: In the twenty-first century, it is necessary for Asia to step up and assume a larger leadership role on the global stage, commensurate with its economic weight and interests. Eighty-eight percent of the increase in the numbers of the middle class in the next five years will take place in Asia, underscoring the reality that global business and leadership will be colored in significant ways by Asian values, approaches and strategies. This book explores how this may impact our view and conceptual approach to the notion of global leadership. The contributors to this collection explore and examine the concept of global Asian leadership and outcome implications at the societal, corporate and policy-making level. They argue that global leaders will increasingly focus on specific needs, values and strategies that are uniquely Asian, which emphasizes the reality that we most likely will have to redefine our notion of global leadership. This comprehensive study of the integration of Asian and global leadership will benefit those employed in the corporate, government and educational sectors as well as a broader audience with an interest in leadership, policy-making and economics.

Content: This interdisciplinary volume discusses the division of the early modern material world into the important legal, economic, and personal categories of mobile and immobile property, possession, and the rights to usufruct. The chapters describe and compare different modes of acquisition and intergenerational transfer via law and custom. The varying perspectives, including cultural history, legal history, social and economic history, philosophy, and law, allow for a more nuanced understanding of the links between the movability of an object and the gender of the person who owned, possessed, or used it. Case studies and examples come from a wide geographical range, including Norway, England, Scotland, the Holy Roman Empire, Italy, Tyrol, the Ottoman Empire, Greece, Romania, and the European colonies in Brazil and Jamaica. By covering both urban and rural areas and exploring all social groups, from ruling elites to the lower strata of society, the chapters offer fresh insight into the division of mobile and immobile property that socially and economically posed disadvantages for women. By exploring a broad scope of topics, including landownership, marriage contracts, slaveholding, and the dowry, this book is an essential resource for both researchers and students of women's history, social and economic history, and material culture.--
Note: Introduction: men, women, property, law, and custom -- Gifts, symbolic values and strategies -- Women' s access to immobile property -- Women, law and property in colonial contexts -- Women and property in transitory zones -- Synthesis.

Content: The volume addresses two concepts underexplored in migration ethics: political stability and solidarity. In his introductory article, Michael Blake argues that the Rawlsian notion of public reason cannot address threats to stability arising from authoritarian movements. In their contributions, Raissa Wihby Ventura, Bodi Wang, Susanne Mantel, Wolfram Cremer, Dimitrios Efthymiou, Esma Baycan Herzog, Gottfried Schweiger, Alberto Pirni, Costanza Porro, Christine Straehle, Corinna Mieth and Thorben Knobloch explore the issue of migration in novel ways. They discuss the relation of stability to identity and cohesion, how to define duties towards migrants and fellowcitizens and the conceptualization of anti-immigration backlashes. The volume concludes with a reply by Michael Blake

Content: Since structure-borne sound plays an important role in noise control, material testing and machine diagnosis, the relevant properties of the most important elements of a construction (plates, beams and shells) are investigated. Measurement techniques, equations of motion, formulas for wave speeds, resonance frequencies, impedances, transmission coefficients etc. are given. The different damping mechanisms and the radiation properties are treated. The statistical energy analysis (SEA) is also presented. This new edition has been enlarged to include also waves on orthotropic plates, and the vibration and radiation of cylindrical shells.

Content: In 2013, China's President Xi Jinping launched what is now known as the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI). Since then, the initiative has instilled apprehension, enthusiasm and uncertainty around the globe in equal measure.  The Belt and Road Initiative: Opportunities and Challenges of a Chinese Economic Ambition strives to reflect upon and synthesize the challenges and opportunities faced by China and indeed the rest of the world pertaining to the implementation of such an ambitious project. It covers perspectives from regions both in and around Asia, as well as from Europe, the United States and Africa. In addition to this, the initiative is discussed through the lens of various disciplines such as geo-politics, marketing, currency, finance, leadership, negotiation, security and the digital component of the Silk Road. The resulting compilation provides for a thoroughly extensive and pluralistic examination of the BRI, lending the reader a peek into what the world may anticipate from China and this project in the years to come.

Content: This book presents a new vision and strategy for a spiritual antiracism that values diversity, equity, and inclusion. Employing the practice of seeing, choosing, and acting as a framework, it examines the role of Christian spirituality, which includes religious values, interpretations of scripture and tradition, and general concerns with the human soul. Christian spirituality was integral to developing and justifying an ideology of "white" supremacy and Christian spirituality has the potential for resisting and rejecting this same racism. Responding to the very idea of "race," born from the ideology of racism and "white" supremacy, the author shows how to envision and implement a spiritual approach that respects both human dignity and individual distinctiveness. Understanding the fundamental value of human dignity as deeply rooted in the Christian tradition serves as one antidote for other readings of the tradition that can be used to justify oppression and segregation. This book addresses those interested in leadership in challenging times buffeted by issues of racism, privilege, and power in our communities, workplaces, and lives. It will appeal to those who are seeking how to lead within the tensions of these times with fresh approaches to questions of diversity, equity, and inclusion. Douglas J. Cremer is Professor of History and Interdisciplinary Studies at Woodbury University, USA. His research interests include contemporary theories of race, gender, political violence, and terrorism as well as modern Catholic and Christian theology and history.
