C. Butterwegge ist Politikwissenschaftler und Experte in Sachen Rechtsextremismus (vgl. dazu zuletzt die von ihm herausgegebene Aufsatzsammlung "Jugend, Rechtsextremismus und Gewalt" BA 7/01). In diesem Band untersuchen er und seine MitautorInnen, inwieweit rechte Parolen um Asyl, Migration und Flüchtlinge bereits in den Diskussionen der so genannten politischen Mitte Eingang gefunden haben. Interessant, wie schleichend und beinahe schon selbstverständlich Skinhead-Parolen von Politikern aller Parteien (in abgeschwächter Form) aus populistischen Gründen aufgenommen werden. Sei es in der Vertriebenen- oder in der Bevölkerungsdebatte, sei es in der Einwanderungspolitik: Sowohl in der mündlichen Auseinandersetzung als auch schriftlich in als "seriös" bezeichneten Tageszeitungen findet schrittweise eine Angleichung in der Wortwahl statt.
