Wenn man die Jahresverdienste zugrunde legt und Arbeitsplatzverluste berücksichtigt, ging der Gender Pay Gap für den Verdienst in der Mitte der Verteilung - also für den Median - in der Coronakrise zurück. Gegenüber 36,2 Prozent im Jahr 2019 sank der Abstand zwischen Frauen und Männern in den Jahresverdiensten 2020 um 1,2 Prozentpunkte auf 35 Prozent und 2021 um 2,4 Prozentpunkte auf 33,8 Prozent. Während sich der Gender Pay Gap für 80 Prozent der Männer und Frauen mit mittleren und hohen Verdiensten reduzierte, wurde er für Männer und Frauen mit sehr niedrigen Verdiensten größer. Im Vergleich zu Männern wiesen Frauen eine geringere Verbleibsrate in Vollzeitbeschäftigung und eine höhere Verbleibsrate in Teilzeitbechäftigung und in Minijobs auf. Der Gender Pay Gap hängt also auch damit zusammen, dass Frauen eher als Männer in Arbeitsverhältnissen mit niedrigeren Arbeitszeiten tätig sind. In der Coronakrise stieg die Übergangsrate in Nichtbeschäftigung für Frauen und Männer mit mittleren und höheren Verdiensten kaum. Dagegen hatten Beschäftigte in Minijobs und sozialversicherungspflichtig teilzeitbeschäftigte Frauen mit niedrigen Verdiensten die höchsten Beschäftigungsrisiken.
