Sechs Bände behandeln die Themen Geofernerkundung,Strömungs- und Transportmodellierung, Geophysik, Geotechnik Hydrogeolo- gie, Tonmineralogie und Bodenphysik sowie Geochemie. Ein weiterer Band gibt Handlungsempfehlungen für ein stufenwei- ses Vorgehen bei der Erkundung von Deponie- und Altlast- standorten. Damit wird allen, die in Behörden und Firmen oder in der Wissenschaft an den Problemen des Umweltschutzes arbeiten, ein umfassendes Werk zur Verfügung gestellt, mit dem Erkundungsarbeiten für neue Deponiestandorte sowie für die Sicherung oder Sanierung von Altlasten ökologisch wirk- sam und ökonomisch effizient durchgeführt werden Können. Dieser Band beginnt bei den geologischen Voruntersuchungen wie Kartierungen und Feldarbeiten und unterrichtet die Leser dann ausführlich über Aufschlußverfahren zur Erkundung der Locker- und Festgesteine und der Grundwasserverhältnisse sowie über Probenahmetechniken und zerstörungsfreie Bohr- kernuntersuchungen. Der Bestimmung der Gebirgsdurchlässig- keit mit Hilfe hydraulischer Bohrlochtests wurde ein umfang- reicher Teil gewidmet. Abschließend werden isotopenhydrolo- gische und geostatistische Methoden erläutert.
