Dies ist die in lebendigen Episoden ausgemalte, sehr persönlich erzählte Geschichte, wie sich jemand auf die Suche nach Alois Brunner begab, dem zum Tod verurteilten Naziverbrecher, rechte Hand Adolf Eichmanns, der sich jahrzehntelang unter dem Schutz der syrischen Diktatur versteckt hielt. Gesucht hat ihn der Kabarettist Christian Springer, doch obwohl sein Buch mit einer Fülle skurriler Begegnungen aufwartet, ist es keine Humoreske, sondern die Geschichte einer Obsession, die den Autor viele Jahre angetrieben hat. Erbost über die Untätigkeit der Behörden, reiste Springer, der semitische Sprachen studiert hat (vgl. ID-A 43/11), mehrmals nach Syrien, wo er unter gefährlichen Umständen zahlreiche, oft konspirative Gespräche führte, die ihn immer wieder auf neue Fährten lockten. Am Ende hatte er nicht mehr in den Händen als ein obskures Testament und das Gerücht, dass Brunner 2001 gestorben sei. Wozu also das Ganze? Weil dieses staatsgeschützte Versteckspiel eine "Sauerei" sei, so Springers Botschaft, gegen die "nur eins hilft: Zivilcourage". Das wird auch bei Jugendlichen ankommen. (2 J) (Engelbrecht Boese)
