Zum 90. Geburtstag der beliebtesten Filmschauspielerin des deutschen Nachkriegsfilms der 1950er- und 1960er-Jahre wird ihre Biografie noch einmal anhand ihrer bekanntesten Filme, Bilder, Briefe und Dokumente aus dem Privatarchiv erzählt. Wie bereits im Vorgängerband "Dem Leben ins Gesicht gelacht" (ID-A 44/16) wird sie dabei von den Journalisten Olaf Köhne und Peter Käfferlein als Co-Autoren unterstützt. Billy Wilder, der 1961 den späteren Kultfilm "Eins, zwei, drei" mit ihre drehte, soll sie (laut Helmut Karasek) geschätzt haben "weil sie so gut wie Monroe und so lustig wie MacLaine" gewesen sei. Trotz großer Chancen in Hollywood ist sie dem deutschen Film treu geblieben. Nach der Zeit der großen Rollen, als der Neue Deutsche Film die Formate veränderte, wurde sie als Moderatorin der Sesamstraße eine vertraute Freundin der Kinder, die sie heute als Erwachsene ebenso kennen, wie die Eltern- und Großelterngeneration die "Piroschka" und "Kohlhiesels Töchter". 2018 nahm sie den Ehren-Bambi für ihr Lebenswerk entgegen. Nur leider fehlt in der neuen Biografie die Filmografie. Dennoch breit empfohlen.
