Auf jeweils einer Doppelseite werden 30 der schönsten und aufregendsten Städte der Welt mit wichtigen Sehenswürdigkeiten, berühmten Leuten und kulturellen Highlights vorgestellt. 16 der vorgestellten Städte liegen in Europa. Zu jeder Stadt gibt es in einem Extrakasten Basiswissen: Land, Sprache, Einwohnerzahl, Flagge und eine Suchaufgabe. Die bunt durcheinander gewürfelten Städteinfos befinden sich unter farbigen, hölzern wirkenden Zeichnungen (kein einziges Foto). Die gleichen Illustrationen findet man in Briefmarkenform auf dem Cover. Informationen zur Lage der Städte, z.B. eine Weltkarte fehlen, ebenso ein Register und ein Hinweis zum Umgang mit dem Buch. So ist es ein großformatiges schweres Bilderbuch, das zum Blättern einlädt und Interesse wecken kann. Will man etwas beim Betrachten lernen, sollte ein Weltatlas in Reichweite liegen. Kein Vergleichstitel auf dem Markt. Bibliotheken die das, nicht mehr lieferbare, auch bei Knesebeck (mit schönen Fotos!) erschienene Buch "Die großen Städte der Welt für Kinder erzählt" (BA 3/10) besitzen, können verzichten.
