Vor mehr als 15 Jahren hat der Geiger Nigel Kennedy Beethovens Violinkonzert das 1. Mal eingespielt. Nun legt er eine neue Aufnahme mit dem Polnischen Kammerorchester vor. Dieser Beethoven ist weniger romantisch, dafür rhythmisch-impulsiv, vital und revolutionär. Schon der Beginn signalisiert den großen Unterschied zur 1. Aufnahme: "Die Pauke gibt ein forsches Tempo vor, die Interpretation klingt wie ausgewechselt". Gekoppelt ist Beethovens Konzert mit dem wohl populärsten Violinkonzert von Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, dem Konzert D-Dur KV 218. Es ist dies Kennedys 1. Aufnahme eines Mozart-Konzerts und auch hier erlaubt er sich - dafür ist er ja bekannt - eine Grenzüberschreitung, indem er das Werk auf 2 Geigen spielt: seiner Guarneri von 1735 und auf seiner Elektrogeige 2 eigene Kadenzen. Heraus kommen Klänge zwischen Klassik, Jazz, Pop und freier Improvisation, "... nichts für Stilpuristen" (Fono Forum 4/08), aber interessant. Das letzte Wort auf der CD hat dann der Jazz: "Creepin' in" von Horace Silver in Kennedys Fassung. Unkonventionell, spannend, für alle.
