Der Begriff "Opfer" meint - etwa in der Presse - Menschen, die bei Gewalttaten oder Katastrophen verletzt wurden oder starben. Im Nationalsozialismus wurden Menschen Opfer von Unrecht. Wer heute auf dem Schulhof als "Opfer" beschimpft wird, gilt als "Loser". Über den Bedeutungswandel und Widersprüche des Begriffs diskutieren der Soziolinguist Norbert Dittmar, die Politologin Anne Goldenbogen, der Historiker Constantin Goschler sowie der iranische Religionswissenschaftler Mohsen Mirmehdi.
