Content: The Pacific Symposium on Biocomputing (PSB) 2019 is an international, multidisciplinary conference for the presentation and discussion of current research in the theory and application of computational methods in problems of biological significance. Presentations are rigorously peer reviewed and are published in an archival proceedings volume. PSB 2019 will be held on January 3 – 7, 2019 in Kohala Coast, Hawaii. Tutorials and workshops will be offered prior to the start of the conference. PSB 2019 will bring together top researchers from the US, the Asian Pacific nations, and around the world to exchange research results and address open issues in all aspects of computational biology. It is a forum for the presentation of work in databases, algorithms, interfaces, visualization, modeling, and other computational methods, as applied to biological problems, with emphasis on applications in data-rich areas of molecular biology. The PSB has been designed to be responsive to the need for critical mass in sub-disciplines within biocomputing. For that reason, it is the only meeting whose sessions are defined dynamically each year in response to specific proposals. PSB sessions are organized by leaders of research in biocomputing's "hot topics." In this way, the meeting provides an early forum for serious examination of emerging methods and approaches in this rapidly changing field.

    ISBN: 9781845427962 (e-book)
Content: This book challenges the current thinking on trust largely based on studies in stable contexts, by presenting new empirical studies of trust and trust building in a number of less stable, less institutionalized settings. These contexts are gaining in prominence given the globalization and virtualization of organizational relations, development of high velocity markets, and the growing importance of intangible resources.
Note: 1. Trust under pressure : trust and trust building in uncertain circumstances -- 2. Rational--institutional and active trust : just do it!? -- 3. Formation of trust in German-Mexican business relations -- 4. Breaking out of distrust : preconditions for trust and cooperation between small businesses in Tanzania -- 5. Trust and performance : institutional-interpersonal and network trust -- 6. Managing trust and the risk of information leakage in collaborative research and technology development : results from a case study in a specialist chemicals industry -- 7. Trust in a dynamic environment : fast trust as a threshold condition for asymmetric technology partnership formation in the ICT sector -- 8. Trust as a market-based resource : economic value, antecedents and consequences -- 9. Store and advertiser reputation effects on consumer trust in an Internet store : results of an experimental study -- 10. Trust, distance and common ground -- 11. Does trust breed heed? : differential effects of trust on heed and performance in a network and a divisional form of organizing -- 12. trust and contingent work : a research agenda -- 13. Trust under pressure : afterthoughts.

Content: There is much confusion in the economics literature on wage determination and the employment-inflation trade-off. Few model builders pay as much careful attention to the definition and meaning of long-run concepts as did Albert Ando. Expanding on years of painstaking work by Ando, the contributors elaborate on the main issues of economic analysis and policies that concerned him.
Note: The economics legacy of Albert Ando -- The age-saving profile and the life-cycle hypothesis -- Do capital gains affect consumption? Estimates of wealth effects from Italian households' behavior -- Demographic changes, reforms to the social security system and private savings in Italy -- Do the elderly dissave in Japan? -- On robust monetary policy -- The euro and the transmission of monetary policy -- Monetary and fiscal policy in a liquidity trap -- A three-factor yield curve model : non-affine structure, systematic risk sources and generalized duration -- The over-investment hypothesis -- Designing indexed units of account -- Land prices and business fixed investment in Japan -- Rationality, behavior and switching idiosyncracies in the euro-dollar exchange rate.

Content: This important book, prepared under the direction of Nobel Laureate Lawrence R. Klein, shows how economic forecasts are made. It explains how modern developments in information technology have made it possible to forecast frequently--at least monthly but also weekly or bi-weekly--depending upon the perceived needs of potential forecast users and also on the availability of updated material.
Note: 1. Background to national economic forecasts and the high-frequency model of the USA / Lawrence R. Klein -- 2. Forecasting the sustainability of China's economic performance : early twenty-first century and beyond / Wendy Mak -- 3. The economic growth story in India : past, present and prospects for the future / Sudip Ranjan Basu -- 4. High-frequency forecasting model for the Russian economy / Vladimir Eskin and Mikhail Gusev -- 5. Short-term forecasting of key indicators of the German economy / Andrei Roudoi -- 6. Mexico : current quarter forecasts / Alfredo Coutiño -- 7. A high-frequency forecasting model and its application to the Japanese economy / Yoshihisa Inada -- 8. The making of national economic forecasts : South Korea / You Chan 'Kevin' Chung -- 9. Current quarter model for Turkey / Süleyman Özmucur -- 10. Estimation of the US Treasury yield curve at daily and intra-daily frequency / Lawrence R. Klein and Süleyman Özmucur -- 11. Using data and models at mixed frequencies in computation and forecasting / Fyodor I. Kushnirsky -- 12. Using sentiment surveys to predict GDP growth and stock returns / Giselle Guzmán.
