Eine Voraussetzung zur Verbesserung der Effektivität von Wärmetauschern ist ein Messverfahren, das es ermöglicht, den konvektiven Wärmeübergang zu quantifizieren. In dieser Arbeit wird eine neue Methode zur Sichtbarmachung lokaler Wärmeübergangszahlen einschließlich zahlreicher experimenteller Messergebnisse präsentiert. Die Methode basiert auf Infrarotthermografie zur Messung der Temperaturantwort der Oberfläche eines Wärmeübertragers auf einen schwingenden Wärmestrom zur Berechnung der Wärmeübergangszahlen. Der Wärmestrom wird mit periodisch moduliertem Laser oder Halogenlampen erzeugt. Die IR Bilddaten werden unter Einsatz von Temperaturdriftkompensation, Phasensynchronisation und Fouriertransformation verarbeitet, um die Phasenverzögerung zwischen den Wärmestromschwingungen und den Temperaturschwingungen zu erhalten. Das mathematisch schlecht gestellte Wärmeleitungsproblem, aus den Phasenverzögerungsdaten eine Darstellung der Wärmeübergangskoeffizienten herzuleiten, wird mit einem numerischen Ansatz auf der Basis eines 3D Finite Differenzen Methode Modells der Wärmeübertragerwand iterativ gelöst. Vorteile dieses Verfahren sind, dass die Messungen berührungslos an der Außenseite des Wand des Wärmetauschers durchgeführt werden können, dass keine Fluidtemperaturen oder Wärmeströme bekannt sein müssen, und dass keine Kalibrierung erforderlich ist. Die Methode wurde zunächst an der Einlaufströmung eines Rohres validiert und stimmte gut mit bekannten Korrelationen überein. (MOD)
