Anmerkung:
The deviation of FJF (junction frequency of the F layer) and MOF (maximum observed frequency) of the oblique transmission path (Sodankylä - Lindau, 2000 km) from the running median of 27 days of MUF 2000 in Uppsala (the control station in the middle of that transmission path) in relation to the earth magnetic disturbance has been statistically analyzed for aperiod of two years. It shows a striking in crease of this deviation (up to 80 %) during increasing magnetic disturbances in the winter night, espe cially after the midnight. A further statistical study was also conducted at the three vertical sounding stations along the transmission path, viz., Uppsala, Lycksele (north of Uppsala) and Juliusruh (south of Uppsala). At Upp sala and Lycksele a similar result was obtained, i. e. , the deviations of foF at both stations increase with the increase of the earth magnetic disturbances ; the deviation at Lycksele is much stronger than at Upp sala. At Juliusruh, a simple decrease of the deviation was found. Therefore, during the strong earth mag netic disturbances in the northern half-path a large horizontal gradient of the critical frequency results, which brings about an enhancement of the deviations of FJF and MOF ab out their means during most of the strong earth magnetic disturbances
