Auch außereuropäische Bauwerke werden gezeigt (Chinesische Mauer, Golconda/Indien), sowie 1 moderne Festung (Fort Douaumont im 1. Weltkrieg) und Neuschwanstein als romantische Burg. Jedes Kapitel endet mit einer Zusammenfassung, Links, Buchtipps und Berufen, die in den geschilderten Bereichen arbeiten. Abschließend Glossar und ausführliches Stichwortverzeichnis. Am ehesten mit S. Biesty (BA 11/04) zu vergleichen. Vor diesem sehr empfohlen, auch für Schulbibliotheken.. - Verschafft einen Überblick über die Entwicklung vom befestigten Dorf über die mittelalterlichen Burgen bis zu modernen Festungen im 1.
