Content: This book is concerned with the analysis of the theatrical event and all of the elements that make up a performance—the text, the actor, the space, the spectator, the social circumstances. Theatre should be the most approachable of the arts, but it is a complex phenomenon that has proven difficult to study. Here, an international group of scholars approaches theatre—viewed in its traditional guise as a physical enactment of a text before spectators—from a variety of directions and using different methodologies. While there is a general orientation toward semiotic analysis, historical, sociological, and anthropological approaches are represented as well. Conceived as an introduction to performance studies, Approaching Theatre provides both an overview of current theory as well as new tools for analyzing performances. Included are case studies of productions by Peter Brook, Antoine Vitez, Pina Bausch, and the Royal Shakespeare Company. These studies suggest how the range of theoretical approaches offered in this book might be profitably applied to specific studies of theatrical performance.

Content: Following the considerable success of the first edition of Plant Virology Protocols, this exciting new edition covers the many new techniques that are now applied to the examination and understanding of plant viruses. Each section of Plant Virology Protocols, Second Edition presents the most novel methods and protocols to allow researchers more effective approaches to study plant viruses. The many subjects covered in this important new edition range from techniques for investigating viral nucleic acid sequence, protein analysis and investigation of protein function, techniques for microscopy/GFP visualization and analysis/protein tagging/generation of infectious clones and other such tools, as well as areas of genomics and interactions with host factors and plant-based studies. Plant Virology Protocols, Second Edition: From viral sequence to protein function is indispensable to laboratory investigators studying plant viruses.

Content: This book provides a comprehensive analysis of the use of antibiotics in the urological setting. It is the first work to focus exclusively on the treatment of urinary tract infections, starting from the recent epidemiological and microbiological acquisitions in terms of bacterial resistance. The structure of the book reflects everyday clinical practice, and the sections are divided in line with the level of clinical severity, starting from the uncomplicated lower urinary tract infections and continuing to severe uro-sepsis. Particular emphasis has been given to patient-related risk factors, to the role of antibiotic prophylaxis in urological surgical procedures, and to the treatment of male associated gland infections. The final section offers a dedicated tool for easy and rapid consultation, helping physicians in the everyday clinical practice setting. The book offers the first practical guide for physicians who treat patients affected by urological infections. Further, it offers a simple guide to consulting for all physicians who occasionally care for these patients.
