Content: The O'odham collection consists of sixteen English language documents covering the Spanish period from 1687 to 1821; the Mexican period from 1821 to 1848, the American period from 1848 to approximately 1981, and interspersed, on occasion, with bits of information on the prehistory of the general region. Although many historians and anthropologists have treated the Pima and Papago as two separate peoples, by the early twenty-first century, the cultural similarity between the two, has led us to combine them in this collection under the new designation "O'odham". Cultural history and general ethnography are the major topics in many of the documents in this collection, notably by: Underhill; Fontana; Ezell; Bahr; and the history of Christianity among the Pima-Papago in Bahr. Other ethnographic topics discussed in this collection are: the life history of a Papago woman in Underhill; regional geography in Castetter; and Fontana; cultural adaptation in Fontana, Hackenberg, and Castetter. Personalilty development and child-rearing practices are major topics of discussion in Joseph. Finally, shamanism, theories of disease, and curing are all described in Bahr, while food and diet in comparison to disease factors, form a significant topic of discussion in Fazzino

Content: The Chuuk files contains 31 documents, most of which are based on research carried out during and after the 1947-1948 Coordinated Investigation of Micronesian Anthropology project. An earlier work covers religion, language, and material culture. Other subjects found in this file include geography, history, arts, and native zoology and botany; descriptions of Chuuk artifacts, canoe travel, and taro cultivation; medical concepts; sociopolitical organization and property as well as native astronomy, changes in property relations, and Chuuk origins; works on social relationships; studies of the educational system under the Japanese, Chuuk personality and patterns of authority in relation to colonization, an analysis of Chuuk personality, and Chuuk character and prestige. Discussions of cultural change are found in studies of change in patterns of adoption, infant feeding practices, and fertility. Several works focus on the serious social problems of alcoholism, and suicide. Other topics explored are sexual behavior and relationships and ideas about sexual reproduction

Content: This collection of 23 documents is about the Early Icelanders and covers the time span from the first Norse settlement in Iceland around 874 A.D. to Iceland's incorporation into the kingdom of Norway in approximately 1262 A.D. The major focus is on the Commonwealth Period from 930 to 1262 A.D. Much of the cultural data gathered for this period comes from the analysis and interpretation of a number of Icelandic sagas written primarily in the thirteenth century. The most comprehensive study of the social, economic, and political changes taking place in Medieval Iceland over a four hundred year period is The dynamics of medieval Iceland by Durrenberger. This study begins with the first Norse settlement in Iceland around 874 A.D. and ends with the incorporation of Iceland into the kingdom of Norway in 1264 A.D. Fourteen of these documents were originally published in: From sagas to society, edited by Gísli Pálsson
