Die Natur macht es vor: Steinzeitleute und Ameisenlöwen fangen mit ähnlichen Fallen ihre Beute. Ein Ameisenlöwe schaufelt im Sand einen Trichter mit steiler Seitenwand, tritt nun eine Ameise auf den Rand, stürzt die Wand wegen der Belastung mit der Ameise ab. Unten sitzt der Ameisenlöwe, der für sein Leben gern Ameisen frisst. Irgendwann wird wohl ein Mensch diesen Trick beobachtet und für seine Bedürfnisse weiter entwickelt haben. Bionik nennen die Wissenschaftler es, der Natur Methoden abzuschauen und sie den eigenen Bedürfnissen anzupassen. Wichtig ist es dabei, dass die Bioniker sich stets bewusst sind, dass sie der Natur Techniken abkupfern können, selbt aber nie so perfekt sein werden. Ob für die Fortbewegung, die Wahrnehmung oder die Energiegewinnung, die Natur bietet uns noch viele unzählige Forschungs- und Entwicklungsmöglichkeiten. Dieses in gut verständlicher Sprache geschriebene Sachbuch bringt uns eine Wissenschaft näher, die noch mit vielen unerkannten Entwicklungsmöglichkeiten aufwartet.
