Die Welt der Märchen wird in diesem großformatigen, gewichtigen, reich illustrierten Band mit wattiertem Cover als magische Zauberwelt charakterisiert, die Kinder jeden Alters mit ihren unglücklichen Prinzessinnen und verliebten Prinzen, die auf schnellen Rössern, Drachen und böse Zauberer besiegen, begeistern. 23 überwiegend bekannte Märchen der Brüder Grimm, von Charles Perrault und H.C. Andersen, die als Sammler und Autoren jeweils kurz gewürdigt werden, wurden nacherzählt und z.T. sehr stark gekürzt bzw. verändert, wobei die/der Textverfasser/-in nicht genannt wird. So staunt man über Aschenputtel, das keine Linsen aus der Asche lesen muss und stellt fest, dass es sich nicht wie angegeben um das grimmsche Märchen handelt, sondern um Perraults "Aschenbrödel", die beim Ball ihren gläsernen Pantoffel verliert. Auch "Der Däumling" wird fälschlicherweise den Brüdern Grimm zugeordnet, während Perraults "Schlafende Schöne" den Titel "Dornröschen" bekommt. Die großformatigen, farbenfrohen, vom Manga-Stil beeinflussten Illustrationen sind echte Hingucker und werden wohl für Ausleihe sorgen. Ermessenssache.
