Guillermo Martýnez wurde 1962 in Bahýa Blanca geboren und lebt in Buenos Aires. Er ist promovierter Mathematiker und verbrachte zwei Jahre seiner Doktorandenzeit an der Universität in Oxford. Für Die Oxford-Morde erhielt er als erster Argentinier den Planeta, den wichtigsten Preis für spanischsprachige Literatur. Der Roman wurde zu einem weltweiten Erfolg, in über vierzig Sprachen übersetzt und mit Elijah Wood und John Hurt fürs Kino verfilmt. Seitdem hat Guillermo Martýnez mehrere hochgelobte Romane, Essays und Kurzgeschichten verfasst.
