Inhalt: This book provides a technological and scientific endeavor to assist the society and farming communities, in different world regions and scales, to improve their productivity and sustainability. Through providing the latest technology and by deepening the understanding of possible cost-efficient techniques and application opportunities for different scales and situations, it will show why the implementation of these technologies faces numerous technological, economic and policy barriers while giving suggestions and examples as to how these hurdles can be overcome. Costs of novel technologies using both conventional and renewable energy sources are discussed and compared with those of other technologies for agricultural production, taking into account environmental and social costs that are caused by using fossil fuel based technologies. Energy efficiency is highlighted since it is of special importance in the systems. Also, applications of new and improved technologies are discussed and promoted. Finally, the book highlights what further research and development needs to be performed

Inhalt: Asia is no longer simply the continent to which the world turns for outsourcing and off shoring of production, leaving retailing to Western countries. Asia now contains many of the world's largest markets plus many emergent markets as well. Each chapter of this volume details the characteristics of an individual market in Asia and demonstrates the challenges that marketers are likely to face in these environments. Covering not just production or consumption but trade as it is practiced now, this book outlines the new norms, conventions and service performance levels that these markets demand

Inhalt: The last three decades in the People's Republic of China have been characterized by decentralization, marketization and privatization. What might be expected from a developing country like China with a significant number of women in the labour force? Do the traditional values of male superiority still stay the same in the background of China's great social change? The notion of 'tiger girls' seems to reflect one of the alternative paths that is now becoming available to the modern Chinese woman. The social development and changes in recent China have provided women with access to education, employment, and independent income. Consequently, they are casting off obedient and subordinate roles and gaining more and more individual power and strength outside the home. Using empirical research findings from three localities in China, Tiger Girls examines the deeper realities of women entrepreneurs in China, and by extension the role of leading women in the workforce
