Content: Children's and Families' Holiday Experience is the first volume to consider the active social role of children (0 - 18) as well as parents in shaping the nature of the family holiday experience. It provides significant insights into the holiday desires, expectations, and experiences of children and the families' tourism behaviour, that offers the potential for the tourism industry to plan, develop, and market products that provide a higher quality service to these populations. This book traces the modern history of the demand for and provision of holidays for children and families. As part of this it examines the nature of the holiday desires of parents and children and the roles society and the tourism industry play in influencing these. It provides an analysis of the changing nature of the holiday desires and experiences of children as they evolve through different life stages and the influence this has on the shape of family holidays. Given increasing concerns about child safety and education, this book examines both issues within the tourism experience. Finally, the book analyses how the tourism industry caters to the needs of children and families and offers insights into how this could be improved in the future

Content: Understanding Creative Business bridges the gap between creative practice and mainstream business organisation, entrepreneurship and management. It discusses the effective positioning of creative practice within the contexts of professional and business development, cultural policy-making priorities and the wider cultural economy. This is more than simply a practical 'how to' guide book. It explores new theory and includes primary research to contribute to emerging debates between traditional and alternative models of business organisation and suggests what the broader field of business and management studies can learn from the informal organisational forms and working practices of creative industries networks

Content: This book examines the practical problems faced by the Universal Multinational banks (UMNBs) in the fields of strategic planning and business development. It explains the common constraints encountered by the UMNBs, showing that, whether they like it or not, current market pressures are governing their policies in all the developed economies. Through studying the management structures and business policies of these banks this book provides a much clearer picture of their activities in the world economy. Initially, it concentrates on the UMNBs of the USA since they have provided a strategic model for other global banking concerns. The UMNBs of Japan, Britain, France, Germany, Canada and Switzerland are then discussed to establish their similarities and differences: case studies are included at the end of each chapter to illustrate and reinforce the points made in the preceding text. Although written in 1984 the author successfully predicted many of the subsequent developments in the field of information technology and competition in world markets, which led to the emergence of global financial enterprises

Content: The main thrust of Part 1 is to give some understanding of the concept of 'global competition'. In doing so, the chapters rely heavily on industrial studies. Part 2 deals with two different aspects of this change viewed from two different perspectives. The one is economic and more macro: the other political and social and more micro, being concerned with the way in which companies have to utilize their various organisational units and integrate information on a fragmented environment into a strategic whole. Part 3 deals specifically with technology, as the particular segment of the environment which often has the largest impact on future strategies. In Part 4 the perspective of global competition is applied at industry, country and company levels and it is shown that this perspective adds new dimensions to old problems. The final parts address the problem of management in global competition
