Gertrud Franziska Pütz aka Leonie Brandt (1901-1978) dreamt of becoming an actress. After realising this dream, she gets the chance to play the role of her life: as a spy for the Dutch intelligence in Nazi Germany. After the war, a number of prominent Dutch people were afraid of what Leonie knew. How do you make a film about a mysterious woman of whom there are hardly any pictures or footage? By more or less illustrating the chronology of her miraculous life story with scenes from old movies.
