Darstellung "klassischer" liberaler Ideen an Hand der wichtigsten Vertreter. - Rezension : Der Autor ist Direktor eines Adam-Smith-Instituts, der Herausgeber Frank Schäffler sass von 2005 bis 2013 für die FDP im Bundestag und betreibt heute einen kleinen liberalen "Think Tank". Es ist ihr Anliegen den "Klassischen Liberalismus" - in dieser Grossschreibung - von den konkurrierendes politischen Strömungen wie Konservativismus und Sozialismus (Sozialdemokratie) abzugrenzen. Gegenüber jeglicher staatlicher Einmischung verteidigen sie die wirtschaftliche und gesellschaftliche Freiheit der Bürger und ziehen gegen jegliche Art von Umverteilung oder der Vorstellung von staatlich herstellbarer Chancengleichheit zu Felde. Im Hauptteil werden die Entstehung, die Geschichte und Grundideen referiert, im abschliessenden Kapitel wichtige Denker vorgestellt, von Locke über Ayn Rand zu Friedrich August von Hayek. Es ist erkennbar nicht Absicht von Autor und Herausgeber, die politische Umsetzbarkeit oder gar Realitätsnähe ihrer "reinen Ideenwelt" zu reflektieren. Es ist eher eine Selbstvergewisserung des ultraliberalen, marktradikalen Flügels der FDP. (3)
