"Silverado" ist eine faszinierende Anthologie aller Westernmotive, eine atemlose Hommage an den Westen als Arena für das elementare Drama von Gut gegen Böse: Eine Gruppe von Herumtreiber-Cowboys landet in einem Arizona-Kaff, es kommt zum Zusammenstoß mit dem korrupten Sheriff und einem finsteren Clan, der alles in der Hand hat. Die Landschaft ist großartig, die Pferde sind schnell, die Cowboys besitzen einen frischen jugendlichen Charme. Vor allem ist der Film eine optische Delikatesse: Hauptsächlich im Herbst und Winter gedreht, in Arizona und New Mexico, herrschen Schattierungen in Schwarz, Braun und Beige vor. Zartblaue Himmel über dem liebevoll nachgebauten Westernstädtchen und über Sandwüsten, ausgebleichter Prärie und Schneeweiten.
