Ein schöner, eingängiger Titel, und er darf wörtlich genommen werden. Auf dem Vor- und Nachsatz sind alle Einzelknochen des Menschen abgebildet und benannt. Was geschieht, wenn ein Knochen bricht, wird in einer kleinen Geschichte klar und geradlinig erklärt: Sturz, Transport im Krankenwagen (statt "Bahre" wäre "Trage" hier korrekt), Notaufnahme, Röntgen; Befund: einfacher Schienbeinbruch, ein Gipsverband genügt. Doch es hätte auch anders kommen können. Und so wird auch darüber informiert, welche unterschiedlichen Brüche es gibt und wie sie behandelt werden (einschliesslich der gebräuchlichen Hilfsmittel wie Schrauben, Schienen u.ä.), wie es im Innern eines Knochens aussieht und was sich nach einem Bruch dort abspielt. Osterwalder liefert die medizinischen Informationen mit Illustrationen von bestechender Anschaulichkeit und Genauigkeit; aber auch die "erzählenden" Bilder, die die Personen wie Schattenrissfiguren zeigen, sind von strenger grafischer Klarheit.
