Levent und sein älterer Bruder Ahet Misirli haben eine musikalische Revolution mitbegründet, die neue Wege für zukünftige Generationen von Percussionisten geebnet hat: sie haben die wenig bekannte ägyptische Doholla ins Rampenlicht gebracht und sie auf eine Ebene gehoben, auf der sie sich als virtuoses Solo-Instrument behaupten kann. Die Doholla ist eine Trommel mit einem pokalförmigen Terrakotta-Rahmen, auf dem eine Membran aus Ziegen-, Esel- oder Kuhhaut gespannt ist. Ursprünglich als Begleitinstrument in arabischen Ensembles verwendet, ist die Doholla grundsätzlich die Bass-Version einer gewöhnlichen Darbuka mit einem tieferen Sound und anderen technischen Möglichkeiten, die durch die größere Fläche der Haut gegeben sind. Levent, der sich die Technik der linken Hand von seinem älteren Bruder Ahmet als Ausgangspunkt abgeschaut hat, bedient sich dem Spektrum der Weltmusik, um einen radikal anderen und sehr persönlichen Stil zu entwickeln. Das Resultat ist eine unendliche Vielfalt an Sounds, die alle spontan entstehen. Die Musik Levents ist von Bescheidenheit, Ehrlichkeit und einem ständigen Fließen geprägt. Die größtenteils improvisierte Musik verbindet dabei Musik aus der arabischen, türkischen, indischen und westlichen Welt.
