Während in Europa für die Vernichtung von Rebstöcken von der EU Prämien gezahlt werden, um der Überproduktion von Wein zu begegnen, werden immer mehr Weine aus den so genann- ten neuen Weinländern USA, Australien, Brasilien, Südafrika und Argentinien importiert. Und in diesen Ländern setzt man sich über traditionelle Anbau- und Lagertraditionen hinweg, um kostengünstig zu produzieren. Doch gerade in ihren Anbaumethoden sehen die Winzer in Europa schützenswertes kollektives geistiges Eigentum. Die Globalisierung hat auch den Weinanbau erreicht, denn die Länder der "neuen Weinwelt" haben die Spielregeln längst verändert.
